Event Details

Author, Artist and Teacher, Helen Murdock-Prep, discusses the materials and basic techniques used in the amazing art of watercolor. You will have fun splashing some water around on your pages. 

Attached is a PDF for you to download & print for use in class.

Materials Needed:
* Watercolor paint: Winston & Newton basic colors, such as cadmium yellow, cadmium red, sap green, indigo, Windsor violet and burnt umber. Under the Daniel Smith paint brand: Quinacrodone gold, cascade green, French ultramarine and moonglow.
* Watercolor paper: no larger than 12” x 16” (cold press, at least 140lb.) 
* Brushes: An assortment of watercolor brushes in both “round” and “flat”. Suggested sizes are #2, #6, #10, #16.
* Liquid Friskit (a masking fluid)
* Paper towels
* Small cup to hold water
* Watercolor palette or tray
* Hair dryer (to dry your paper between layers)
