Event Details

Manet (1832–1883) and Degas (1834–1917) were friends, rivals, and, at times, antagonists who defined and influenced modern painting in France. Presenting the work of both artists side by side, the exhibition at the Met from September 24, 2023 - January 7, 2024, and this visual lecture by Professor Thomas Germano, will carefully examine the parallels and divergences between Manet and Degas's art and life.
