Join the Plainview-Old Bethpage Library as we discuss this year’s Long Island Reads selection, A Speck in the Sea: A Story of Survival and Rescue, by John Aldridge and Anthony Sosinski. Two veteran sailors who co-own and operate a Montauk lobster boat recount the 2013 search-and-rescue mission for co-author John Aldridge, describing how his partner, their families, the local fishing community, and the U.S. Coast Guard in three states mobilized an unprecedented and ultimately successful operation.

This will be a hybrid book discussion. You can choose to either come in-person or attend over zoom.

To register please email reference@poblib.org and tell us how you will be attending, either in-person or through zoom. If you are attending via zoom, the zoom link will be sent to you.

Long Island Reads will honor John Aldridge and Anthony Sosinski in-person and online at an award ceremony on April 23, 2023 at Half Hollow Hills Community Library.

**As a “thank you” for participating in our Long Island Reads book discussion, each patron who attends in-person will receive a nautical themed craft kit-to-go.  The kit features a decoupage seahorse applied to a rustic, painted wood backing and includes jewel-like stones to complete this unique work of art.  All paints and supplies will be included, as well as the link to a YouTube video with step-by-step instructions for completing the craft.**
