The post-graffiti transition from street art to artists canvas in 1980s New York City saw an insurgent movement within contemporary American Art.  Jean-Michel Basquiat (1960–1988) went from hoodlum to art world darling.  Professor Thomas Germano will present a virtual lecture inspired by the exhibition Writing the Future: Basquiat and the Hip Hop Generation at the Boston MFA from October 18, 2020 through May 16, 2021.
