Program Description

Event Details

This program is based on the dialogues between Joel Zelnik and Bill Evans at the Village Gate during the mid-1960’s.  Bill Evans, a 7-time Grammy award winner, is acknowledged to be the most important innovator of jazz piano in the late 20th century.  Joel had the great fortune of playing at the Top of the Gate in NYC, alternating sets with Evans.  Signature Evans works are performed and Joel plays pieces that show the Evans influence as he shares personal stories and anecdotes about the time he spent sharing a stage with this jazz legend.
