Event Details

Join film historian Larry Wolff for the public premier of a wonderful and funny quiz show - You Bet Your Life!  In 1947, Producer John Guedel thought Groucho would be wonderful using his adlib ability on a radio program and so, You Bet Your Life was born! In this presentation, you will learn the answers to many questions, such as whether Groucho had a script, whether the contestants were screened in advance and why this successful show was eventually cancelled.  After the presentation, we will view various clips from the show’s vaults, including the segment that launched a successful film career, a parody and rare outtakes. This presentation includes an autograph, memorabilia and book display. Get ready for Groucho’s amazing wit and you may learn a few quiz facts along the way as well!
