Rumaan Alam has a blockbuster hit with his third novel, Leave the World Behind. A New York Times best-seller described by one reviewer as "undeniably haunting," Leave the World Behind is a work of suspense set here on Long Island - that addresses climate change, racial issues and personal relationships.

Rumaan Alam grew up in Washington, DC and graduated from Oberlin College. He is a contributing editor at The New Republic and the co-host of 2 podcasts for Slate. He is the author of two previous novels, Rich and Pretty and That Kind of Mother.

He lives in New York with his husband and two sons. An obsessive reader, Rumaan exhausted the shelves of his local public library by the time he was 10. He is thrilled to connect with a community that is as committed to its own Library as Plainview is.
